Description

Shehecheyanu is an expression of praise to God for allowing us to reach a significant time or event. We recite it as festivals begin and for seasonal mitzvot, like shaking the lulav on Sukkot or reciting the scroll of Esther on Purim. We also recite it when eating a seasonal fruit for the first time that year, when seeing an old friend, or when wearing new clothes. There are so many opportunities in life to thank God who is the giver of every good gift.
