Having on an earlier upload advised how unashamedly biased I am regarding Janice Harper, whom I regard as one of the best female singers of the Fifties and early Sixties not to have become a major record star, I make no apology for further extolling her talent with another of her titles. During her career she recorded only two albums, from the second of which, 'Embers Of Love (RCA), comes "If You Are But A Dream". This outstanding song, the melody of which is based on Anton Rubinstein's "Romance in E flat, Op. 44, No. 1 is most closely identified with Frank Sinatra, who recorded it twice. Its many other top quality recordings include those by Vic Damone, Damita Jo, Sammy Davis, Brook Benton and Della Reese. Janice more than holds her own with a thrilling performance.
Sadly, she spent the last few years of her life in a nursing home, suffering from Alzheimer's and died in 2016.
