The Kunqu opera classic “Peony Pavilion” has enjoyed popularity for hundreds of years since it was created around 1600. It’s especially appreciated in China’s eastern city Suzhou where Kunqu opera originated and continues to prosper. Now the city of Suzhou is trying to rejuvenate the age-old art form by transforming “Peony Pavilion’s” love story into a landscape drama in a Suzhou garden. Check it out.
