Composed in 1903 by Ángel Villoldo (1861-1919), "El Choclo" is one of the most iconic and beloved tangos. Villoldo, known as the father of tango, was a versatile artist who captured the soul of Buenos Aires in his music. His ability to combine simplicity with profound expressiveness has kept him alive in the collective memory of tango lovers. This piece is, without a doubt, the most important in his repertoire. Here, I'm performing it as one of the arrangements from my book "10 Amazing Tangos for Solo Guitar".

Edited through my online platform‪ ⁨@tangoguitarlessons, each song of the book was written for the guitar in its solo role, considering the style and authentic character of every tango piece. Written in both English and Spanish, in sheet music and TAB, it contains songs on 5 different levels: Beginners, Upper-beginners, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced. Ideal for those who are just starting out with the genre, as well as for experienced tango guitarists looking to enrich their repertoire.

Compuesto en 1903 por Ángel Villoldo (1861 - 1919), "El Choclo" es uno de los tangos más icónicos y queridos. Villoldo, conocido como el padre del tango, fue un artista polifacético que supo capturar el alma de Buenos Aires en su música. Su capacidad de conjugar la sencillez con una profunda expresividad ha hecho que se mantenga vivo en la memoria colectiva de los amantes del tango. Esta pieza es, sin dudas, la más importante de su repertorio. En este video, lo interpreto como uno de los arreglos de mi libro "10 Asombrosos Tangos para Guitarra Solista".
