Originally based off a poem by the same name by Nikolai Nekrasov, it tells a tale of a peddler and a girl haggling over goods which is seen as a metaphor for courtship. It’s tune has become more famous and memorable in the modern age due to it’s association with the theme of the famous game Tetris.
